Why are only my last 20 reviews visible?

Haven’t double checked my reviews from 3rd-party angle for some time. Just checked and I am shocked. Under my profile only the latest 20 reviews are visible, via iOS app. This is really shocking. TBH if this is not system flaw then this may be the last straw to make me jump ship. I tag some Googler here @MoniDi please give us some explanation.

Also some long-time moderator /activists are tagged for more possible feedback. @ErmesT @MortenCopenhagen

If I don’t receive any proper response from Google in time or if this is confirmed to be the way Google currently treats reviewers/Local Guides, then I will start to delete all my contribution to Google. What a pity waste of time over the past years.

I encourage any Local Guide that uses iPhone/iOS to check if this is true to your own reviews.

Hello @ivanos,

Please be advised that all your reviews are visible in Google Maps. Currently you have 1490 reviews:

If you see something different, please provide more details so that we are better able to assist you. Thanks!

Thanks for follow up on this @MoniDi

I agree the total number of my reviews is correct. However, if you click “See all reviews” under my profile on iOS Google Maps app, you can only read up to the last 20 reviews posted (up to my review of La Table de Collete, the 20th reviews counted backward from my last review). Same situation can be found if you click into the tabs such as London. You can only read my last 20 reviews of places in London.

Some further clarification: I mean viewing from general users/public mode, not viewing from Local Guide. I found Local Guides can still see my older reviews, not just the last twenty ones. @MoniDi

Just like what I’ve mentioned in this post. While Eyedaq has been passionate about sharing and he’s posted over 500 reviews of places in Seoul, a general user (without Local Guide access) can only read up to 20 reviews he posted for places in Seoul. That’s sad.

Thanks for the tag, @ivanos , and sorry for the late reply.
Like @MoniDi , I can see that no one of your reviews is “private”

In addition by scrolling down your contributions (on desktop) I can go down over 20 reviews, and I can also see them in the listing of the businesses

I did also a check about this part, and I agree that there is an issue, but it is not the one mentioned by you.
In fact every user can see all your reviews publicly. The limitation is appearing only if you use Maps in Incognito mode.
This is indeed an issue, but it is not related to you [only], so thanks for reporting it.
I checked several accounts, including mine, @MoniDi , and in incognito mode, depending of the interface, I can only scroll down a limited amount of reviews:

  • With the web interface the scroll is limited to 9 reviews (tested on mobile with Chrome, and on desktop with Chrome and Firefox)
  • In the App on Android I the scroll is limited to 20 reviews.
Can you kindly escalate it to the team?

In any case this is an issue with a very limited impact, @ivanos , because it is only related to the use of “incognito mode” but if you check it with a different account while logged in, we, the general users, can see ALL your reviews

Thanks @ErmesT Appreciate your detail testing and reply. We are on the same page on the issue reported. But let me further clarify what I meant by “general users”. The “general users” i meant are those that don’t have Google accounts or aren’t Local Guides. For them they don’t have to go into Incognito mode but still can simply access Google Maps and the reviews as bystanders. Simply speaking, anyone that has smartphone and downloads applications or anyone that has computer and internet can see the content in the way I meant. Now iOS Google Maps app allows Local Guides to view via such angle. Viewing from this angle, the visible reviews under my profile, same as you’ve mentioned via Incognito mode, are counted to only 20 of the latest reviews. For Google Maps viewed via desktop browser (installed on Microsoft Windows system), such number reduces to only 10.

I hope this is system issue and can and will be resolved. My concern is this is actually the new policy of Google (to save resources). If that’s so, then that would be really disappointing.

This is the function that I mentioned that allows LG to view the map without logging into accounts. It’s on iOS Google Maps app.

Any update here? @MoniDi can you please let Pichai know that ignoring is always not the best policy. If Google decides to jeopardize presence of Local Guides contribution, make it clear to us.

I’m really felling sorry for you @Eyedaq

Hello @ivanos,

Seeing the last 20 reviews is an intended behavior for users who are not logged in or are in an incognito mode.

I would like to point out that your questions are not being ignored but rather replied to once there is a valid update. Thank you for your understanding!

I don’t think this is really intended behavior of users not logging in, especially when they are checking the tabs of LG for more specific categories (cities, kinds of restaurant, etc) of places that LG reviewed. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts under this thread, un-logged-in users now won’t be able to check on more than 20 of the places in Seoul some Korean LG passionately recommended/reviewed. This is really a reduction to the review of Local Guides and functionality of Google Maps reviews.
