I am writing to seek some guidance regarding an issue I’ve been facing with my recent contributions. Lately, whenever I try to add a new place or update existing information on Google Maps, my edits are consistently being marked as “Not Accepted.”
I always ensure that the information I provide is accurate and reflects the reality on the ground. However, the system seems to reject these changes regardless of their validity. I’ve noticed this happening even for smaller, less “famous” locations that genuinely exist and need to be on the map for better navigation.
I have a few questions for the experts here:
What are the primary reasons for an edit being “Not Accepted” when the information is factually correct?
Are there specific criteria or “Trust Levels” that the system looks for before approving an edit for less popular locations?
What steps can I take to ensure my edits are accepted more frequently? For example, what kind of additional evidence (photos, GPS data, etc.) helps the most?
I really want to continue contributing to making the map more accurate for everyone, but this frequent rejection is quite discouraging. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated!
The algorithms constantly monitor the consistency of suggested edits. If you’ve had at least two rejections in a row, Google is reviewing some or all of your contributions. Nothing serious.
Wait 24 hours and it should be back to normal.
Usually, you are located to verify that you know or have been present at the location, which reinforces the relevance of your suggestions.
The higher your level (patience), the more your contributions will be taken into account. But to achieve this, you must strictly adhere to the rules and not abuse this feature.
This also happens to me, brother, even though I have a lot of information, it didn’t accept much. Maybe it’s going beyond Google’s algorithm. It’s not just my own fault here, Google is also a little wrong sometimes.
Hi @TASKINRONYLC,
Please follow these tips to improve your approval rate: Capture a clear storefront photo that fully covers the shop and shows the name board clearly. Enter the store name exactly as it appears on the signboard. If it’s written in a local language (e.g., Hindi), use the same script while creating the location. Choose the most appropriate business category (e.g., select Juice Bar for fruit juice shops). If the name board includes a website, you can add it. If not, you may skip it. If business hours are not available, do not add timings.
Following these steps can significantly increase approval chances
