Who owns Kashmir?

“Kashmir belongs to Pakistan”

“Kashmir belongs to India”

“No, it does not belong to any country. It is just a state”

We all have been hearing such statements since we are born. Specially, being a Pakistani, I was told you consider Kashmir as part of Pakistan, literally, THE WHOLE KASHMIR. That sounded really great in childhood, yet, as I grew up, I realized, maybe I needed to know more.

Many might not know that Kashmir is a beautiful place on earth. It is totally like heaven, but due to its political unrest, the tourism gets affected.

So, let’s go into what I have done something which actually made me realize that I needed to know more instead of just studying about it in my 10th grade. Well, later I joined an organization that connects India and Pakistan through true history and geography lessons. I learned the total history of Kashmir and how it become ‘My Kashmir’ and ‘It is not your Kashmir’ scenario.

Well, this post is not about who belong to what. This post defines my experience of my recent trip to Pakistani side of Kashmir, which is called Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). I traveled till Sharda which is a small yet beautiful village in AJK. Let me tell you the most interesting things about AJK, most of the regions are located at LOC (Line of Control). Do we have to scare of it? I think, NO! The other most important thing to consider is that all the Kashmiri belongs to same ethnicity, hence divided into two nations. They might not have seen their relatives for years and maybe would not in future. Might be, their families take visas to visit and come via Dubai by air to visit and eventually come on the other side of the mountain.

There was a stunning river flowing which divided India and Pakistan in Keran. I could see India from my hotel balcony. YES YES! That is actually true.

Well, my recent experience just made me comprehend that we humans just divided each other on the basis of ground. As humans, no one should divide us.
