Who is the local guide in your opinion?
This is my advice to all my fellow local guides on Google Maps: know that the guide is the eyes of the tourist, the traveler, and the one who has lost their way.
They all have one eye through which they see their path in their travels, their wanderings, and their guidance. It is the local guide who paves the way for everyone, who is the leader of the journey, who is the advisor.

I use a slightly broader definition than “the tourist, the traveler, and the one who has lost their way” as I try to also include more Maps users than those who consider them selves to be a tourist, traveler, or lost.
Most Maps users unlikely are tourists or feel lost. I actually use Google Maps for more than 50% of the times I move around for navigation tips should there be a traffic ham or accident I need to navigate around, and always when using public transportation. Also, Maps has become my go-to app when checking opening hours for businesses and places.
And I use Google Maps to align my spacial awareness and memory of places so I can understand where a place is relative to a place I already know in the real world. This allows me to navigate the real world without using Google Maps.
So with such other uses of Google Maps I think Being helpful to Maps users is a slightly broader and more accurate way to guide our actions as Local Guides.
Tourists are one group of Maps users but far from the most important in my opinion.
