Hello Friends. I am a Local guide presently on Level 8. I like road mapping. I have added 250+ roads on maps by using Google Maps app but a few days ago I heard about Road Mapper. Then I also added some roads by using Road Mapper but I couldn’t understand which is better option for road mapping. Google Maps app or Road Mapper. Please anybody who knows about road mapper pls explain the advantages of adding roads from Road Mapper. And also please let me know may I able to use Road Mapper in my smartphone or is it necessary to have a desktop for using Road Mapper?

Roads added from the Google Maps App or from Google Maps via a computer are showing up on Google Maps after approval.
Roads added via the Road Mapper not really. I have gone to great length to try to find my roads added via Road Mapper on Google Maps with no success.
I suspect Road Mapper is there to help the Machine learning to learn where humans can see roads at sattelite images. I know that the same sections are presented over and over.
Also because only roads added via Google Maps gives you points, I decided not to use Road Mapper any more.

I can only echo what @MortenCopenhagen has said - one tool helps people, the other just seems to exist to help Google, they “reward” us for one and not the others, it’s not hard to choose which to focus on

Better in my opinion is that you draw the road on google map. In which you will get 15 points for one road.
A road mapper has a fixed area within which you have to draw a road.
But on Google Maps you can draw any length of road you want.
Finally, you need a desktop to use Road Mapper.
Another thing is now you can draw road on google map through desktop.

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you sir clearing me from this confusion. I have one more doubt. Will roads added by Road Mapper be counted in our Local Guide Profile number of Roads added or not?

Firstly congratulations for our 250 roads,that’s a good job. It will be interesting to know the percentage of local guides who have a big Zero “0” on their profiles.
If you have access to a desktop please try adding roads on the Google Maps using the editor. Thanks for asking and thank you all for your responses.

This is exactly what it is, I have used both Road Mapper and Google Maps to add roads.
I prefer to add roads via Google Maps.
