The Kyushu Jangara Ramen Harajuku in Tokyo is a place for tasting authentic Japanese Ramen.
They serve very good Tonkatsu Soup base ramen.
During my visit to Tokyo in October 2023, I had the garlic vegan Ramen at this restaurant.
It was located right across the street from the Harajuku train station exit.
I simply walked to this place from Shibuya Square.
The restaurant was playfully decorated with plenty of color, flags, and banners, adding some liveliness.
The vibes of this resto encouraged me to eat fast. Ramen is fast food after all
They also had an English menu which was very helpful.
It also made the resto quite a tourist friendly.
After I entered the restaurant, I ordered at the cashier and then I was seated.
They accepted all international cards, cash, and coins.
Hip Tip: In Japan, they have little coins of very high denominations.
So be careful before you toss them away after returning from Japan.
Loose change can buy you a couple of meals on your next trip.
The service was efficient and fairly polite.
It was a busy place, and I saw many people arriving and leaving before I finished my Ramen.
So, the food prep was accordingly fast.
The seating arrangement consisted of individual seats, which was friendly to single travelers and introverts like me.
The Ramen was quite tasty and had a pleasant texture.
Here’s the view from inside the kitchen looking towards the customers.
Here’s the storefront of the Kyushu Jangara Ramen Harajuku resto in Tokyo.
They have a narrow wooden staircase with metal handrails only enough for one person to use it at a time.
The facade is cluttered with small and big posters with little advertisements and notices - the most prominent being ‘We have English Menus’.
Such tiny notes bring much solace to a hungry and thirsty international traveler like me

Hi @TusharSuradkar
Thank you for sharing your experience at Kyushu Jangara Ramen in Harajuku, Tokyo! Your detailed description and photos truly bring the place to life. It sounds like a fantastic spot for anyone looking to taste authentic Japanese ramen, especially with their Tonkatsu soup base. I’m glad to hear they offer a garlic vegan ramen option as well, which is great for vegetarians and those with specific dietary preferences.
The vibrant and playful decor you described, along with the friendly vibes, must make dining there an enjoyable experience. Having an English menu certainly helps make it more accessible to tourists, and it’s nice to know that the restaurant caters to international visitors by accepting various forms of payment.
Your tip about Japanese coins is also very useful! It’s easy to overlook the value of those coins, and as you mentioned, they can add up to quite a bit.
Thanks again for sharing this gem. I’ll definitely keep Kyushu Jangara Ramen on my list for my next visit to Tokyo!
Safe travels and happy eating!

Very good points @RosyKohli and thank you for the appreciation of the post
No - there were no veg options that I knew of. Maybe Naresh Bhai knows, but I did not see him eating at that place.
You can see him in the last photo in front of the restaurant.
Yes, the food was surprisingly cheap for the quality and portion.
