Earlier I used to think Kali Puja and Bandna Parab were the same… but later I learned they are two separate events. Here, Bandna Parab and the beginning of Diwali happen at the same time. And this Bandna Parab festival is mainly observed in Purulia and its surrounding regions. I made a post about the First day, and now the posts for the following days…
Bandna Parab – 2nd Day Activities
Morning:~ 
From early morning, everyone gets busy collecting the essential items for the day’s rituals. The whole village wakes up to a festive rhythm.
Flower & Clay Preparation:
Fresh saluk (water lili) flowers are gathered, followed by a ritual bath. Later, clay wheels (matir chaka) are made as part of the traditional setup.
Rice Powder & Ghee Pitha Making:
Each household prepares chaler guri (rice powder) for making ghee pitha, the traditional festive sweet. As the pithas fry in pure ghee, the whole place fills with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of celebration.
Goyal Puja:
The main ritual of the day, Goyal Puja (cattle worship), is performed. Families gather to honor their cattle, offer prayers, and show gratitude for their contribution to rural life.
3rd Day Celebration
Morning Rituals:~
Everyone wakes early, bathes, and ties bundles of paddy (dhaner more) — a mark of prosperity and thanksgiving.
Songs & Gatherings:~
Like the previous night, villagers come together again, singing Ohira songs..
Alpona Decorations:~
Homes shine with handmade alpona — beautiful designs drawn with rice paste, adding grace and purity.
Cattle Worship:~
Women of every household perform Goru-Mosh (cow - buffalo)Puja, decorating and feeding the cattle with affection, showing gratitude for their role in rural life.
Community Spirit:~
Each home, each courtyard glows with unity — a gentle reminder of how deeply people, animals, and the land are connected💞
