Sigiriya (Lion Rock) is an ancient rock fortress located near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres (660 ft) high and is today a UNESCO listed World Heritage Listed site.
This is a must-see site when in Sri Lanka. Be prepared for a hard walk to the top, with difficult pathways to maneuver and steepness of the climb. Enjoy ancient artwork on the walls well preserved over time along the way. But the views from the top can be worth the hard slog.
