What to do against companies trying to remove honest reviews?

Hi,

I recently got my third email from removals@google.com and a third location was trying to remove my 2-star review from the Google Maps platform.

These emails were obviously mass-generated emails by lawyers who try to delete as many “bad” reviews as possible for their clients. Their claim is always that I never was at the location. Which is untrue, I have visited all of them, I obviously only review places that I visit.

So far, I always answered within the 7 days period of time and never heard back from Google or the company. Still, I want to know if there is a better way to handle this than answering these requests one by one? And shouldn’t Google do something to make sure that honest reviews are not deleted by semi-automated warning lawyers?

Any experiences on how to handle this?

Thanks!

Not sure to understand what you are saying @Atzerullo .

Only people in Google have a Google dot com email, and if the review do not follow the rules will be removed, they will not ask you to remove it.

Can you kindly share a screenshot or better explain what is going on on your reviews?

Hi @ErmesT ,

this is the email (in German). It might be a Germany-specific problem.

Thanks!

Thanks for the screenshot, @Atzerullo

Yes, this seems to be related to your country, as I see that they are mentioning some specific law.

For this reason I’m asking a Google Moderator to check your post and, for your privacy, to remove the screenshots.

Hi @Atzerullo ,

Thank you for the screenshots; they really help shed some light on your experience.

I’ll check internally if there’s any guidance we can provide about this. In the meantime, please continue to share the necessary information within the given time frame as it looks like these removals are handled by another dedicated team.

Thank you for the tag, @ErmesT !

Hi again @Atzerullo ,

I received confirmation that these emails are part of a standard legal procedure when it comes to reviews in Germany. So please continue to provide the details requested and let the team know that your reviews are genuine!

I’ll mark my comment as the solution so that others who have the same question can easily see it. Additionally, I’ll change the topic of your post to How-tos as that’s the best place to ask a question on Connect. Thank you!
