I have been a local guide for 3 years now and I never found the use and the need for it until I traveled to beyond the borders of Zimbabwe and realized that google is more than just a search engine or email or my go to place when I need to find out information about anything and everything.
When I traveled to all the countries I have been in and found out how easy it was when I was looking for a place or items and I could just go onto google maps and search for that particular place and I would find it I vowed I wanted to also make a difference in Zimbabwe and help people find places, buildings, businesses etc at a click of a button. I wanted to make people aware of the places that are around, restaurants to visit, schools, churches and hangout places. I started to explore how I can assist how I can help and I stumbled on google guides, and realized I can exploit this and use it to my advantage and assist my fellow Zimbabweans. Once I started I realized I can not stop, it was like a drug, and all I wanted to do was to bring awareness, provide assistance and be able to give my own views and suggestions of places I visit.
Local Guides gave me an opportunity to make friends, give back to the community, globally because I realized not only could I just assist Zimbabweans, but I could also give reviews and assist friends and the global community with recommendations of places to be for different occasions. I fell in-love with google guides as it gave me the opportunity to do what I love, help others whenever I can.
Since then I have always given my all, writing reviews, giving recommendations, suggesting places, contribute in any way I can to better other peoples lives. I love the Local Guides program, as it has made a difference in my life and my community. The monthly email gives exciting information about how many people I’ve helped and to know that people do get the assistance they need and my reviews are making and difference out there, that really makes me happy. In particular the Review I gave to Nandos Avondale and that has increased their sales and customer experience.
This program has made it easier to contribute and give back to the community. I am still learning this whole package, but I am certainly glad I am part of the program and am going to contribute even more as I travel as I see places.
