I love the Local Guides program! I believe it’s a great tool to help people from all over the world, a great way to discover new places & people, and it even created a passion for photography that I didn’t know I had.
The Birth of a Passion:
So, my involvement in the Local Guides program goes back to 2015 when I moved to India for a job position. Since everything was new for me, I started mapping which would be good places to go for lunch, where I could catch a movie, or get my cellphone repaired.
I started out by leaving reviews and answering Google’s questions, then I started taking pictures at a couple of places until a friend told me what a beautiful picture I uploaded. So, as my travels continued, I began taking photos of everywhere I’d go!
I have over 200 photos with around 3,000,000 views, which is a personal milestone.

Helping Others and Discovering New Places:
You can help people from all over the world using the Local Guides Program, in many ways! Whether it’s posting an article in Local Guides Connect site or making an edit in Google Maps when a place is Closed or answering Google Answers about a location.
It is also a great tool if you are traveling alone and/or to new places you have never been to. You can create lists of places that might interest you or use someone else’s list that might interest you.
You can also use Local Guides to meet people from all over the world, this help me meet dear friends and create valuable friendships, I even started a collection of bank notes, which many were given as gifts, now I have many banknotes from more than 15 countries!
Without a doubt I used Google Maps and the Local Guide Program on every single trip I’ve had and has made my traveling so much more pleasant and easy to handle.
