To me personally, being a google local guide means sharing my experiences, feelings, and culture in both my community and travels. It means I can rely on others in the google community to tell me their side of the experience. Wether the local guide is a doctor, teacher, or someone sailing around the world, we are able to influence one another to visit or to avoid a certain area, restaurant, or tourist attraction.
The guides program has changed the way I look at traveling outside the state/country as well as my local community. I love reading reviews before visiting a new restaurant and knowing what to expect. Or answering questions for someone who has never been to a spot that I have. As a doctor, I help people everyday, and this may be in my nature, but helping others as a local guide likewise gives me great pleasure. To know that by sharing my experience may be helpful to others in setting their expectations.
