Baklava is a sweet dessert pastry made of layers of phyllo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup. It is a very old pastry, and during the Ottoman Empire, the latest traditional form was developed.
Here, baklava is made by filling between the layers of dough with pistachios, walnuts or hazelnut and generally served with ice-cream.
Hi @Zeynepp thank you for sharing this great post.
Wow… I’m so happy to know what Baklava is. I know that Baklava is a must try food when in Turkey, but never browsed about it yet.
Since I love pastry, pistachios, walnuts, hazelnut, and especially ice cream, I think I’m gonna love it!
Is Baklava itself served hot? What ice cream flavor that usually served with it?
Here, I would like to share with you one of my favorite dessert from Makassar , South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is called Pisang Ijo or Green Banana in English.
Thanks for sharing these appetizing desserts with us! I love every type of baklava, but especially I love the baklava with pistachio. Which one is your favorite? I don’t remember trying baklava with ice-cream, next time I have to give it a try. : ) Usually other Turkish desserts like kadaif and kunefe are served with ice-cream.
As I see you are just like me, loving sweets, I would like to share with you My favorite Turkish desserts. I hope you like it. : )
The last Turkish dessert that I tried is kunefe. Here is a photo that I took before I enjoy it.
Thanks for your comment and sharing it looks delicious.
Baklava is kept and served cold; for the best taste, it should be served at room temperature.
For the last ten or 15 years to present a fresh flavor, it is served with vanilla ice-cream since it is a very sweet dessert by itself.
Thank you for your comment and sharing, kunefe is also one of my favorites .
My favorite baklava is walnut baklava. For the next time, you may try baklava from Karaköy Güllüoğlu.
Here you can find my two favourite types of baklava. Baklava with walnut on the left and baklava with chocolate on the right.
For me, the best baklava store across the universe is Karakoy Gulluoğlu.
They only one branch in the world and it is located in Karakoy, Istanbul. However, they distribute tons of baklava just from this tiny store to the whole world
By the way, the following picture was taken on my birthday in February. My mother in law send it to me a birthday gift
Thank you for sharing these photos, @myparmaksiz ! This is the perfect gift one can get, isn’t it? : )
It is surprising to learn that a sole branch could distribute baklava throughout the world. They must maintain an outstanding quality. I will remember this place for my future travels to Istanbul.
Everyone loves Ice cream because of good tastes, and its healthy ingredients. Now a day’s Ice cream has become the most common dessert. People of all ages love Ice cream and enjoy it anywhere, anytime. If you

Here in Poland our version of donuts is pretty popular (last Thursday we celebrated Fat Thursday which is last Thursday before lent, where you can eat as many donuts as you like - without any guilt or counting the calories).
Hi @Zeynepp@TsekoV I hope someday I could try it.What flavor that you like the most?
Wow looks so yummy @myparmaksiz ! Thanks for the recommendation place to enjoy good Baklava. Saved it on my Google Maps list. If one day I go to Istanbul, I will go there. And happy belated birthday to you
In the USA chocolate lava cake is very popular. The outside is plain very moist dark chocolate with a thick dark chocolate liquid center surprise, served warm.
@Zeynepp@Velvel@TsekoV I posted a new article about the famous Turkish fast food, “the dürüm”. Baklava is among one of the best desserts after " the durum" Check you at my article and tell your favourite fast food as a comment under this post
I’ve never seen baklava served with ice cream! I’m sure that’s really delicious. I don’t have a photo of my favorite Finnish dessert, which is Runeberg torte (Runebergin torttu), which is flavored with almonds and rum. It usually has raspberry jam encircled by a ring of icing on top.
This however, is my favorite French desserts, a mojito cheesecake. I love cheesecakes in general, and I always want to try a new flavor they have.
