What is the most popular beverage in your country?

Hello my Friends!

I hope you are doing amazing!

I think would be entertaining to start a chain that allows you to know a little more about customs in your countries!

What is the most popular drink in your country?

In Peru, without a doubt, the most popular beverages are soft drinks. The most popular is what people have the most access to and sodas are the most economical. Logically in Peru there are international brands that everyone knows, Coca Cola, Pepsi, etc. However, in Peru the most popular drink has another name: Inca Kola.

Inca Kola is a soft drink with fruity flavors and almost phosphorescent yellow color, which has been part of the lives of Peruvians for a long time. The company that created it is called Lindley Corporation, a company that was Peruvian for many generations until a few years ago that was acquired by the Mexican company Arca Internacional, one of the main distributors of Coca Cola throughout Latin America. However, the formula and presentations of this drink remain the same.

So you know friends, if you travel to Peru and want to try something not so international, and it happens that you are in a restaurant, ask for Inca Kola!

Best wishes,

Marco … from PERU!!!

@marcorp Beer and wine (red and white) are very popular in New Zealand. There are many good breweries, and hundreds of good wineries around the country.

When my wife and I were in Lima in 2014, we had Pisco Sour which was very nice. We were at the bar and I saw the barman breaking eggs. I asked why he was breaking eggs in the bar. He explained and that’s when we found out about Pisco Sour.

@TheEagleEye hello there! It´s pretty cool that you visited Lima! who knew! Glad that you tried Pisco Sour, if it´s the right place Pisco Sour is a marvel, and kind of tricky, you can get pretty dizzy after a few… haha

Yes @marcorp we had two each and enjoyed very much. Having another one each could have been dangerous and I doubt we would have found our way back to the hotel.

We also visited Cusco and Machu Picchu during our visit to Peru.

Hello @marcorp ,

Thank you for this interesting initiative, and for sharing this information with us.

In Morocco, the country where I grew up, the most famous beverage is green tea with mint.

I’m sharing with you a photo of people drinking green tea with mint at the Udaya, in Rabat, Morocco.

Hey @marcorp ,

What a great idea to share the most common beverages in our countries! I have never heard before of the Inca Kola, but I am more than curious to give it a try!

A beverage that is quite famous in Bulgaria and is non-alcoholic is the Ayran. It is made of yogurt, salt and water. It has Turkish origins, however most of Bulgarians love drinking it cold in hot summer days.

Do you have a similar drink in your country?

Hi @marcorp ,

Thanks for initiating the subject, as beverages do also deserve the spotlight among the cuisine! : ]

In Viet Nam, I do believe that the most preferred drink would be the Coconut water, as in the Southeast Asia

the coconut itself is a low-priced treat.

@sonnyNg and it´s delicious indeed. Coconut water is also kind of popular in Peru but mostly in the rain forest, places such as La Merced, Villa Rica, and Satipo.

Thanks for sharing my friend!!!

@TsekoV hi there! Wow, this drink you mentioned is kind of unique, in Peru I think there´s nothing similar. It´s amazing to see all the nice things in Bulgarian customs, and traditions.

@BorrisS what a nice reply my friend! Green tea is also popular in peru but not that much as soft drinks, it´s mostly to lose weight here, I guess it´s the same in Morocco? is there black tea as well?

Hi @marcorp ,

Thanks for providing the information, I will make sure to try when the opportunity to visit Peru arises!

But I will try to find the Inca Kola first, should that be more feasible at the moment. : ]

Malta ( is a drink made with barley but is non alcoholic)

Toddy ( is a chocolate milk powder)

Chicha (Is a rice made drink, very sweet and tasty I love it)

Orchata (different to other countries, I don’t personally like it)

Alcoholic ones there’s:

Malta regional and Polar
