What is the most interesting thing you've done as a Local Guide?

Staying in my hometown in Texas was not an option. Sure I applied to schools nearby just in case but I was focused on escaping my everyday surroundings. With my phone in hand I Google mapped my way to Orlando, Florida where for two years I worked towards graduating with a Bachelors of Digital art and Design. But, every step is a journey of it’s own and I was willing to share every second with the world.

I first started submitting reviews on Google Maps around college in 2015. What really drove my ambitions is when I started putting my camera skills on my phone to use by submitting the pictures I would take on small trips. I figured with the stylistic visuals it would encourage others to come to the destinations and make memories of their own.

During my stay in Florida I visited multiple beaches, Disney (almost once a week), Universal, and Gaylord. I was so happy to not only experience such amazing opportunities but I was able to shoot and edit pictures and share them with people so they can see “The Sunshine State” through my eyes.

After graduating, I went back to Texas for about 3 years. During that time I decided to start my branding in photography by working for “Charley’s Angels Newborn Photography” and freelancing for Quinceñeras. Though I was back in my stomping grounds, I did not let that bind me from exploring more. I had just begun my journey and was completely ready to witness more! The first year I got three jobs and saved up to fly all the way to New York for the Mean Girls Broadway with my best friend. I was so excited to finally go to the infamous big apple! Before we started our trip we walked all the way from central park to the very tip of downtown to the boat rides to the statue of liberty! After giving ourselves a grand tour we basically owned the streets, using our guides to submit pictures and find good pizza places. Luckily that was only one of the three times I visited New York. I even got to see my High School and College friends who live there!

While New York has been a saturated part of my traveling experience I have also showed face in other parts of Florida to see Miami twice (where I met a beloved friend and musical artist based in New York “Zack Strut”) and Destin for a family trip. I’ve driven to San Antonio and Houston for Music Festivals, Austin for a wedding (Which I got to show people free wedding grounds to book), and Kansas City, Kansas/Missouri.

Finally, it’s 2020 and my next chapter has been in the west since February 2020. After doing photography at yacht parties for the Super Bowl in Miami, I packed up and drove from Dallas to Tempe, Arizona. Before the unfortunate events I’ve been able to visit the Six Flags by Los Angeles, San Diego (twice), and Las Vegas. I’ve made 1821 contributions, I’m a Level 7 with 9,001 points, and have been viewed by 2405068 people. I desperately want to put more in and show people how great the world really is. After going from place to place I found the ultimate way to find unity is for us to get out of our comfort zones and put ourselves in the shoes of others so we can come to an understanding. My goal in sharing my experiences is to spread Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect.
