What is the best way to draw pedestrian paths on Google Maps?

Hey all

I would like to start a discussion here:
What is the best way to draw pedestrian paths on Google Maps?

I have a real-world example:
A property owner’s newly built structure is not yet on Google Maps

Here is what I did to clarify the real-world situation:

Blue line around the building - https://maps.app.goo.gl/8svVLe4ZtT9vqtuk6

And then, based on the blue line, I drew the following into Google Maps:

  • Road – Google approved the edit, and the road is now visible.

  • Pedestrian paths around the building – Google did not approve the edit.

My question is:

How can this be done better so that pedestrian paths around a building get approved and appear on Google Maps?

any ideas @TsekoV ?

Thank you for your ideas and discussion

I’m making Google Maps better so people can find what they’re looking for and get to the right place :globe_showing_americas:

The actual satellite view in Google Maps is dated Sep 6, 2022, and the road added by you was not visible, @Zdenek . Given this, in theory, not even the road would have been approved. However, Google Maps has an image available, dated April 24, 2026, which shows the road as well as the pedestrian path.

This explains why the road was approved. The pedestrian path, however, is partially obscured by the shadow and the three-dimensional silhouette of the building. This makes the approval very difficult.
In my opinion you should explore an alternative way: https://contentpartners.maps.google.com/
