I think it’s very subjective when you say “Best” .

It depends on cost, affordability, usability and so many other factors.

I guess the best is the GoPro Black camera 360 rig that gives the max resolution in my opinion , but it comes with the price tag.

If you want a pocket Friendly, street view ready camera, then I believe Ricoh They V does a pretty good job and also at this price point, it’s the only camera that supports Video mode.

Another good mention is Insta OneX , it’s got stabilization and many neat features , but it lacks Video mode on Street View.

I am going to tag @LucioV here, I consider him the master of 360 ( here on localguidesconnect) and I am sure he will add some quality points too

Hi @Dewminh there is no easy answer.

Thanks @OmerAli for mentioning me.

I can say that the best quality/price ratio is for Ricoh Theta V, that is the only consumer camera compatible with Google Street View Video mode.

But today I saw some samples from the new Insta360 Pro II and is impressive: https://www.facebook.com/Google.Maps.Business.View.Livorno/photos/a.666721290036138/2399652460076337/?type=3&theater

@Dewminh As suggested above by others, it really depends on what you mean by for Street View.
If you want a Street View certified camera, allowing the Street View app to control the camera directly, then, options are limited to these here and a few others https://www.google.com/streetview/publish/

Almost all 360 camera photos (as long as they meet the min requirements), can be manually uploaded to Street View, even if they are not certified.

Then there’s the consideration of price vs performance vs quality vs ease of use/processing vs features vs other needs.

In my opinion only, and it’s fine that everyone has a different opinion, for a consumer 360 camera that is below USD 500.

  1. For shooting Street View for public places and public roads etc, go for the Ricoh Theta V, mainly because of the video mode in Street View app.

  2. For shooting business locations for Street View (if we only look at consumer 360 cameras and exclude DSLR and pro cameras), options are the Xiaomi MiSphere, Ricoh Theta V, the Insta360 OneX

  3. For shooting 360 videos (not related to Street View), Insta360 One X

*The GoPro Fusion is also a good option for (2) and (3), but is of a higher price range and more difficult workflow.

@Dewminh Have a look at a sample below. Best to view in full screen in a large monitor.

Older Ricoh Theta S - with strong sufficient light source

Ricoh Theta V - with strong sufficient light source

Xiaomi MiSphere - without good lighting, only dim room lights with curtain closed
