There are three things I try to focus on when I post to Google Maps.
First one is the positives I see in the places I have visited. I like to help other people see the beauty in the world around them even if it’s small.
Next is useful information. This is usually things I would have liked to know before I got there. My tips for making a visit easier or more enjoyable. Like ‘you can get the same sleds from Walmart for cheaper’, ‘watch for pygmy rattlesnakes’, or ‘come early in the morning because that is when the animals are most likely to be out’.
Lastly, bathroom photos, because everyone needs to use the facilities at some point and it’s nice to know if there is a clean restroom. Some of my most viewed photos on Google Maps are of bathrooms at parks, playgrounds, and campsites. In my humble opinion, there is nothing worse than getting to your destination only to find there is no hot water and the facilities were lacking in cleanliness. Such intimate information of a location can be powerful in planning ahead for a stress-free and enjoyable first visit.
