Hi fellow Guiders… I am glad to be here today, I must say this is a very good development for us to connect more.
My name are Afeez Akinfola Oyinloye, a Digital Tech entreprenuer from Nigeria, a Google Local Guide since 2018.
I will be talking about this topic today “What does the Local Guides program mean to you?”
There is nothing I love like giving back to my society. I was living abroad before I came back to set up an ICT business in Nigeria in 2014. I noticed that, unlike Western countries, in Nigeria there is a lot of information missing on Google Maps; this has always bothered me a lot. In 2018, when I had the opportunity to join the Local Guide, I was so glad to join in order to contribute to my local area.
Local Guides means Helping people, to me, is because the tremendous job local guides are doing on Google Maps has really helped a lot of people from going in the wrong directions. The questions local guides answer have helped a lot of people from patronizing wrong shops, businesses, offices, or stores.
Being a local guide gives me joy by helping others. This has seen me contributing to map contents at any place I visited. In many states I have been to in Nigeria, I make sure I contribute the right information to any question that pops up to me by Google.
My dream is to go around the world so I could contribute much more information, and by this I am pretty sure I am helping millions of people and also improving people’s businesses by confirming their facilities.
Love you all.
