What does the Local Guides program mean to you?

The program is a way for me to have a small positive impact on the lives of internet users today. What started as a review viewing functionality, has transcended into a critical habit whenever I go out. There are some place where the Google Street View vehicle has not been to yet, or things have changed since the last time it was there. When I notice such discrepancies, I submit an edit. Same goes for restaurants. If the quality has changed from my last visit, then I change my review to better reflect the current affairs. This I believe helps both the restaurants and its customers. The option for the owner to reply directly to a review is a welcoming one.

Google has been a guide for me in many ways from so long. In today’s world, I strongly believe that having the right information is vital. Though Google is excellent in constantly updating the information it displays on its sites, it’ll be unfair to expect every single piece of info to be 100% accurate. That’s where I believe we local guides can help Google achieve that accuracy through the local guides program. The new sub division that didn’t have a name till yesterday gets a name today? Enter Local Guide. There’s a new Chic-fil-A opening next to my house? Enter Local Guide. Longview St is misspelled as Longview Dr? Enter Local Guide.

It is a wonderful program that is a way of giving back to the community.
