As an educator, I am always learning and sharing my knowledge with my students. I love to share experiences and hope that my insight helps others grow or make more informed decisions. I appreciate the contributions that other Local Guides make every day. I use their insights to make choices about entertainment, food, and travel all of the time. The Local Guides program has helped me a lot in my personal life and has become very important to me professionally.
About a year ago, I began contributing more 360-degree photos to Google Maps to add to Street View. It is so engaging to be able to explore the world virtually. It makes learning about a new place more immersive. I earned the Street View trusted badge this past summer and learned a lot about 360 photography.
I had so much fun capturing businesses, parks, and landmarks as photospheres, that I couldn’t wait to share my new expertise with my students. So this school year, I created VR tours using images from Google Maps in Tour Creator and the kids have enjoyed learning about places around the world through Google Expeditions, Google Earth, and Google My Maps!
The contributions of Local Guides around the world have made this new immersive learning experience possible and helped educators like me bring lessons to life. So, for me, the Local Guides program means learning about new places and sharing that knowledge to not only help people travel the world in real life but also virtually. I am truly thankful for this program and the dedicated Local Guides who help to make it possible!
