Local Guides means to me planning, travelling, exploring, discovering and sharing.
I can’t even remember when I first started with the program. I didn’t really know what this was about. I just used to search on Google Maps for information, every time I wanted to go to a new place.
So I came up with the Local Guides by accident, as I was looking for some new ways to advertise our family business on Google. Since then I was uploading photos from the places I’ve visited with a comment and Google was sending me an e-mail with my progress as a Local Guide. This motivated me to keep going and be more active and passionate with it. I realized that through my contribution to Google Maps, I can not only help people to organize their trips, but also small businesses to be more widely known.
I love travelling, exploring, discovering new places and taking photos. The Local Guides Program gives me the opportunity to combine all of this and also to give other people the information they need about places I’ve been, through my photos and comments, through my eyes. I get excited when I discover new places, which are special to me in some way and I want to tell people about it. My friends for example say that I open their appetite when I describe them a specialty I tried in a restaurant, because I do this with passion.
I personally find it very useful, to be informed about a place, before I go there. The Google Guides Program has the power to connect us all in a global community. We all have the chance to tell people what we know or to learn from others in the community. (What if we didn’t have this tool?) Google help us to be a part of the whole world and to be in any place we would like to be with a click.
