What does the Local Guides program mean to me?

The Local Guides program means a lot to me and I really enjoy being a Local Guide.

I live in a very touristy place (Tenerife, Spain) and I hope my opinions and reviews could help not only local people but also tourists in their search for a nice restaurant, bar, etc.

When I started writing my opinions on Google Maps, I didn’t know about the Local Guides program. I just shared my experience, positive or negative one. Eventually I received a lovely message from Google saying I was given the status of a local guide. I felt very pleased and honoured, I felt myself as a part of a new friendly community, the community of the local guides of the island of Tenerife (Spain). And my special status “Local Guide” encourages me to keep sharing useful information about different places in my area.

I strongly believe that it’s important to share our positive opinion about something or someone who really deserves it, who positively surprises us with his good work, nice service, etc. So thank you Google for creating Local Guides program - such a great instrument to inspire people to communicate and share their opinions and emotions.

Hi @zhuzhu84

Welcome to Connect. And thanks for sharing. Have you had a chance to take a look at “Your guide at to connect.”? It’s a good starting point for this forum.

By the way, are you applying for Connect Live 2020 with this post? If so, as part of the requirement, you need to write the post under Local Stories topic.

Check out this How to write a great connect live post for more information.

You can edit your post/message. Click that three dots and select “Edit Message” as shown in below screenshot.

Once in edit mode, select local stories as Topic. You can only select one topic.

Good luck
