What does the Local Guides program mean to me:

  1. I’m Siddhartha Gautam from India.
Back in July 2019, I needed to get my migration from the University that I had never seen before because I was a corresponding student. It was my first time in another state and I have no idea how would I reached there if I didn’t have my phone in my hand and Google map on it. It showed me the fastest and easiest way to get there.
As we got there way earlier than I expected and we had leisure, so we started exploring the place. I took my childhood buddy with me, he’s also my junior. We took a lot pictures at the University, met a dozens of other amazing students. I thought that we might get bored there but it was kind of a new experience. Soon the fun time got over and we head back to home. When left in the morning, I didn’t expect to return home before night but thanks to Google maps I was home even before 4 PM which is my coffee time so I was a little extra happy because of that too. Coffee lovers know what it means to get a coffee at your routine.
But the story didn’t end there, when I got there I had to go from one office to another and so on. So when I got home the 2nd thing I did was too rate the place and add a review mentioning all the details about how and from which office to get your documents.
I wrote a step by step review so that other students could get their documents easily and it is still my most viewed review of all time, the pictures I uploaded that day had more than 9000 views the last time checked a few weeks ago. So I guess my review is helping others as well which really makes me feel good because in a country like India it’s not easy to get anything from authorities. They keep you sending from one office to another.
But thanks to google maps local guide program, I was and still able to help thousands.
And the humanity is facing a threat named covid-19. Thousands are dead and almost a million are already infected with the deadliest virus in the history of time. So guys please stay home, keep your loved ones safe.
Soon all this will be over and we’ll be back to explore new places and tell people stories about them.
    Thank you.
