What does the local guides program mean to me?

Living the Google Local Guide Life

As a Language instructor, whose typical student is a non-Spanish speaker with long staying in the country, the Google Local Guide program has allowed me to connect with my students in a deeper way by providing valuable information.

The app has a wide variety of features where I can show my students from restaurant options based on diet, budget or location to guidance on how to certain process works in the country which is extremely help for people that are getting to get more familiar with the country’s culture.

In addition to have made an impact as teacher and help my students with reliable information, the program has the flexibility where users can add new places, edit places or answer questions as well as other contributions. All this features, enable users to help businesses who are just starting to have more visibility and feedback on things that are working and things that could be improved base on reviews. Overall being part of this community has made a positive impact in my life where it empowers me to share my thoughts, help individuals as business grow. On top of that, the program allows you to earn points which is a great incentive for users to continue to engage with the program.

I have always liked to travel, to meet new people, to learn about their customs, their world, to try new food and go different restaurants and places. I love people, nature, food, traditions, and variety. Isn´t the world more interesting and fun with our diversity?

Being a local guide has inspired me to become a fully active member in sharing, helping, getting to know other people and supporting them by providing them advice, recommendations about different places, services, areas, etc.

I believe by this instrument of giving information we open to people from all cultures, with all beliefs to see us and get closer at the same time, making the world closer without frontiers.

By using google maps people can immediately find out any reference about a place or location. As a Language instructor, I have used many times this as a reference to help my student were to meet for a lesson or allowing them information about a place. Usually a café or a restaurant telling them in detail about the type of food, either traditional, fusion, international, vegan, etc. Since most of my student are non-Spanish speakers this tools helps them figure out about different places, quality, price, where to go etc. Also learn about culture how procedures are here in Perú, museums, historical areas, ruins, having them the information before what to expect, have to get there and what to find over there. So in that way they are prepare in advance what they will experience when they get there.

It is rewarding when you help owners of small cafés or business to become more famous for their good service and quality of items. Moreover when they acknowledge your reviews. Thanks to google map who makes you feel that your comments are worthy and important to others.

I look forward to continue and improve doing valuable contributions to the others and helping them on their way.

Best of all,

Gabriela Rodríguez
