I came across this program by chance, where Google had, many years ago, sent messages based on your various locations, asking you to review places you’ve visited. I initially found it a fun activity, to post reviews on occasion. As time went on, I got feedback from google as to how many people were seeing my photos, how many people had read my reviews, and this grew exponentially, and I am quite amazed at the numbers! It really impacted me, and I shared with friends and family about my experience, especially when google sent me some local guide socks to say thanks. I know its cheesy, I am cheesy sometimes and I like to make people laugh, but I wear those socks with pride, because no one else I know has a pair! Back to the question though, it is amazing to me, that not only are my posts and photos helping others, but I was making a difference to the web, world-wide and I’m now a tiny bit famous! I have now received the opportunity to attend Connect Live 2020 at Google’s campus in California’s Bay Area, based on my eligibility, if my application is successful.
To round up, I wanted to make a difference, because sometimes, there is a lack of information available, about a place, or there are somethings I feel people should really know about a place, and if I can make that difference to help people make informed decisions, then that’s great. Having had my own business, I know how hard it can be, so I also feel that it is important to help places that I really value, to grow, to do well, and to give others opportunities for great experiences, whether they be local or from abroad.
