The Local Guides program is important to me because it helps point users to individuals who take the time out of their regular lives to help protect the interest of others. How does it do that, you ask? It allows regular people to give their personal and raw opinions on locations, facilities, services, food establishments, attractions, and more and provides a platform for those posts and reviews to be seen. The people who post as local guides help to give people a viewpoint of things before they even leave the comfort of their homes. We help answer questions and clear up confusion–we prepare people for their journeys, and ready them for their experience. I appreciate that Google values the Local Guides program members and understands the importance of what they do at no cost and for little gain, other than the satisfaction of helping others. I appreciate that the program offers incentives to local guides and affords them the opportunity to continue “leveling up.” The incentive program and the Local Guides Program itself ensures that the general public continues to get timely, accurate, and truthful reviews, lists, and posts.
