What does the Local Guides program mean to me? Helping people to know how I know the place.

Local Guides has given me a global experience. I love traveling and exploring new cultures and places around the world. This could not be maximized without Google Maps on my phone where I constantly look for help. My trips to the local DIY store could not be practical without checking the opening and closing times. My daily commutes could not be shortened without receiving traffic updates and crash reports.

Because of my family needs, I always look for the wheelchair accessibility - the information which is not always available. When we were visiting a tourist spot in Istanbul, I managed to find the peculiar way to enter with wheelchair thanks to one of the blogs posted on www.localguidesconnect.com.

I like to add accessibility information wherever I can so other people like my daughter could see the world like everyone else. I aim to help people to know how I know the place.

Initially, It was my hobby but now it has developed as a passion. Wherever I go, whether it is a restaurant, a local grocery shop, a museum or a sports club, I would love to add reviews and photos that could help others. Many of the small business owners are not very tech-savvy and they do not realize just how much an attractive listing on Google Maps can do for them. A few pictures or reviews can go a long way.

My city has so many hidden gems that were unknown before they were introduced on Google Maps. This is all because of the outstanding dedication of local guides around the globe.

Monthly stats about the number of people who have seen my posted photos are just the icing on the top. It is a delight to see how much my efforts have had been appreciated.
