Whats up all! Happy Holi to all the respected local guides.
I am Soumen Dutta from a small village, Singi of Purbabaddhaman District of West Bengal State, India. I have been using google search since 2008 but did not even know that there is such an opportunity to share one’s experiences and help other people through Google Map. Only one and half years ago I came to know about Google Local Guide program from one of my colleague. Till then I have found this program as interesting as an adventure tour. Before being a local guide I only saved photographs and stories in my phone and in other electronic gadgets. But when I found these pictures and information can help millions of people to reach their destination my pleasure knows no bounds.
AS a primary school teacher I don’t have enough time through out the year to visit far away places from my resident but have much time to explore near by places. I also love to click photos frequently. So after becoming a google local guide I keep posting those stories on google map. It has been always exciting for me. one more thing I have never been thought to update world map, adding new places and roads. This is far more interesting then doing anything on social media. When I found my photographs have gathers 100000 views, I silently thank google and get rejoice mentally.
Recently I have received a mail from Google about Connect Live 2020. Only after that I faced that there is a platform for local guides around the globe --Local Guides Connect. Thanks Google once again for giving me the information and opening an opportunity to make new friends around the globe through this website.
Gradually I have reached level 7 as a local guide. Number does not matter but the merriment matters. As a local guide I now observe the things more carefully, try to know the history of the places I visit, and these enrich my experiences and knowledge. I am not helping others but helping me to build up my way of thinking, way of observing and way of learning.
