What Does Halloween Look Like Where YOU Live?
Halloween is almost here, and for our October #StateChallenge we want to learn about Halloween around the world — from YOU!
For some of us, Halloween means costumes, trick-or-treating, pumpkins, haunted houses, and WAY too much candy. ![]()

But Halloween can look very different depending on where you live — and in some places, it may not be celebrated at all.
What does Halloween look like where YOU live?
Do children go trick-or-treating? Do adults dress up? Are homes and businesses decorated? Are there parties, festivals, or special foods?
What are some of your favorite Halloween memories? Maybe it was a costume you’ll never forget, taking your children trick-or-treating, a neighborhood tradition, a Halloween meetup with other Local Guides, or something completely unexpected.
And what if Halloween isn’t traditionally celebrated where you live?
Have you ever tried celebrating it anyway? Maybe you’ve dressed up for a party, attended a Halloween event, joined a Local Guides meetup or experienced Halloween while traveling somewhere else.
We want to hear about that too!
And what about traditions that aren’t Halloween?
I recently spent time in Mexico, where Día de los Muertos — Day of the Dead — is such a fascinating and beautiful tradition.
Does your country or culture have something similar?
Maybe there’s a special time to remember and honor loved ones who have passed. Maybe there are traditions involving food, flowers, costumes, decorations, festivals, or family gatherings.
What does your tradition mean? How is it similar to Halloween — and how is it completely different?
This is our chance to learn from Local Guides around the world! ![]()
