Hi Local Guides,
I’ve noticed different color-coded place names on Google Maps like blue, green, and black. For example, some businesses appear in blue, recently viewed places in green, and religious places in black.
Can anyone explain what these colors actually represent and how Google assigns them?
Thanks in advance!
Hello @muhammad-shehzad
Those colours were introduced back in 2017 , every colour represent a different category, such as Food &drink, Shopping, Health, Entertainment, etc.
Here’s an article (by Google ) about them so you can see them by yourself: Google Maps gets a new look
Hope it helps ![]()
Thanks for the tag, @muhammad-shehzad
I was just coming to give the same reply already provided by @LaloPadilla
I also want to inform you that, as Lalo’s answer is the correct one, I’m flagging his reply as the Solution for this question
Hello @muhammad-shehzad,
in addition to the screenshot, you should also share a link to the place, otherwise we all can only guess. My guess, in this case, place was added with a wrong category.
Dann wäre es hilfreich in der Suchtleiste Restaurant oder Lebensmittel abzufragen und nicht eine Tankstelle oder so @muhammad-shehzad
