It’s great be useful and help others, but I can see that it’s a big difference being Local Guide in the USA or in Europe.
More than a simply hobby, what are the real effective benefits (more than just a on the profile) for us the Local Guides that we are doing a great job for Google helping improve Google Maps?
You Guides in Europe have the feeling that what we do takes a lot of efforts but we don’t feel Google is helping us incentivating our hard job?
To answer your question I would say that there is no difference between Local Guides and how they contribute to the community worldwide. In Connect, you can share your first-hand local experiences, celebrate places near and far from home, connect with a global community of explorers like you, and help local businesses improve their products and services.
Perks are offered to Local Guides from time to time as a thank you for contributing great content on Google Maps. You may receive a perk because you’ve consistently shared high-quality contributions, reached a certain level, or often review a category related to a perk.
Local Guides who have opted in to receive benefit emails will be updated with any new rewards and we encourage Local Guides to check their email-settings and update/monitor their email preferences as well as their spam or promotions folder.
Stay tuned for more features and rewards to pop up throughout the year! In the meantime, you can learn more about points, levels and rewards here.
