WHAT ARE OTHER MATERIALS BENEFITS YOU GET BEING A LOCAL GUIDE

It’s been on my mind for a very long time to ask this.

Apart from Google not rewarding Local Guide(s) Money on theirs Reviews and Contributions to Google Map.

Is there any Materialistic benefits for contributing and writing reviews on Google Map provided you have exceeded the minimum level points for benefits.

Hello @Ericjay1452

Nice to meet you here on connect. Life is not all about material benefits really. There are other benefits you get that’s not material as a local guide or as a constant contributor to the maps.

  • I catch a lot of fun writing reviews and adding places to the maps. I do this as a hobby.
  • Contributing to the maps has helped know more places not only on the maps but in my community and in the communities I go through.
  • Contributing to the maps has helped me develop other skills, like writing skills, photography skills, etc
  • Helping others is another benefit of contributing to the map. As a local guide you are directly and indirectly helping others.
  • Remember it’s a voluntary service and it’s priceless.

Finally, please look up my post My-local-guide-lamp-My-contributions-to-lighten-the-world/td-p/3176329 it may interest you as a local guide

By the way welcome to connect and happy guiding.

Cheers

Hello @Ericjay1452 And Welcome to Local Guides Connect.

There aren’t specific perks for each and every Level. Local Guides enjoy early access to new product features and rewards from Google partners and these awards are available worldwide or by region. There is no financial compensation from being a Local Guide as this is an at-will program that Local Guides are free to contribute to at their own leisure.

Local Guides who have opted in to receive benefit emails will be updated with any new rewards and they encourage Local Guides to check their email-settings and update/monitor their email preferences as well as their spam or promotions folder.

And one more thing, Local Guides is a voluntary program and many people participate in it because they want to be able to help others via the Google Maps platform. You can read more - “Why be a Local Guide?”

Stay tuned for more features and rewards to pop up throughout the year! :slightly_smiling_face: In the meantime, you can learn more about points, levels and rewards here.

All the best :+1:

Thanks, your answer is very insightful

Thanks… I really hold on to this line. #I could be one yet, but nobody (one) never knows#…

I am an aspiring software engineer though, I flop in writing but i will use this as a medium or pathway to increase on my writing skills and communication skills with people around me.
