I touched a bit in my last post aboutWellington Highlights, about places to visit in Wellington. Well, there are numerous places to visit. I made a list of place to visit here. Here, I am going to tell you more about excited moment happened during my two years stay there.
“What I enjoyed most as I have lived there for two years included strolling around Cuba streets for drinks, food and meeting friends, shopping on Lambton Quay and enjoy Sunday market (fresh fruits/vegetables on the water front or Wellington Harbor the morning of Sunday). I also enjoyed watching people fishing along the waterfront. Most importantly, I felt extremely exciting to watch the parade in this small city. I also enjoyed the Spring festival celebrating at the beginning of Spring in the Wellington Botanical garden. Last, but not least the musical events and firework in Spring.”
** There are photos I took from those moments to share. Please scroll down
There are also many parades that I saw during my stay there, I really enjoyed observing them.
I think the first one was the parade ofgraduation ceremony of Victoria University where students walked section by sections up to the river front where they will meet the Mayors. The ceremony itself in the hall was also exciting.
Another parade was the annual event called Anzac Day: an event to Honour, reflect, remember those who lost lives in the World War. It is arranged annual by Wellington City Council, around April 23-25.
Another parade I joined was when New Zealand won Rugby world cup squad 2015 in UK. I once watched the Rugby between Australia and New Zealand in the Westpac Stadium (known now as Sky stadium). It was extremely exciting.
Another parade was Zenta Parade for welcome Christmas from all culture.
AllBlacks championsstars were standing behind the Mayor who was giving speech to welcome them back from UK, who won “World Rugby Cups” in 2015. They got the medal and championship**.**
Musical parade in one of the busy street in Spring
Anzac parade to commemorate annually for those who lost lives in World War I. If you look closer, you will see how people at the top look at the parade. I love those moments when people stop whatever they do just to see and cheer up the parade.

Me, posting at Sunday Market - my favorite part of living in Wellington
Thank you dear @TusharSuradkar AllBlacks team won Australia over the Rugby and then won Rugby World Cup in UK in 2015. The city council celebrated the welcoming parade for them once back home. People were cheering and standing so crowded along the way. It is not everyday we can see this.
P.S. I run out of space and now learning to use URL from our fellow LG, Naseem.
Thank you dear, I’m very happy you read this article @renata1 it is indeed beautiful place to be. I was lucky to witness all those things and thought I should share the moment with you guides.
Thank you dear @AmalVenugopal I’m happy you enjoyed reading my post. Wellington surely got the title not for nothing. It was recognized in 2014I think.
