Yesterday, I had some very special guests visiting my city from Dhaka. They are part of my other family, the Local Guides from Google Maps. I was truly happy to finally meet them in person. Among them were @ShafiulB Bhai and @KhokonSharker Bhai, two of my favourite Local Guides. This was my second time meeting Shafiul Bhai, but his first time meeting me in my city. I have met Khokon Bhai a few times before. Two other young and energetic Local Guides also joined.
They had already used most of their energy visiting different places in beautiful Chapainawabganj earlier in the day. They told me that they would spend the second half of the day in Rajshahi. But I knew that after exploring Chapainawabganj, they might not have much time or energy left for Rajshahi.
Still, I was ready. I had a few places in mind to show them, even if the time was short.
I took them to Rajshahi’s CNB Mor, one of the city’s main food hubs. We tasted some traditional sweets together and took a walk along one of the nicest roads in the city.
Next, we visited SIX 40ty, a new restaurant near the Padma River. It has an open, creative, and relaxing space. We spent a short but enjoyable time there and took a few photos.
After saying goodbye to Shafiul Bhai, I took the rest of the group to try Rajshahi’s famous local food, Kalai Ruti. But time was running out. Their bus was about to leave in just 20–25 minutes, so we had to eat quickly and say goodbye too soon.
So many things happened in such a short time. Before I could fully enjoy the moment, it was already time to say goodbye.
I want to say this to all Local Guides: You are always welcome to visit my city. Please try to come with enough time. Rajshahi is a peaceful city, best enjoyed without rushing. I am always ready to guide you and explore the city with you.
