Weekend market - Siem Reap

Hello all LGs and friend,

I hope you are doing.

In Cambodia, we received impact from the cyclone in China sea so so much rain in Cambodia, flooding in Battambang, Pursat and Stung Treng province. So many people have been effected by it. Please take care of yourself!

Today, I would like to introduce a Local market, can be called Weekend market or Farmer market which sold vegetables and fruits that are safe and organics. Sellers are local farmers who have registered to grow these things by themselves. The authority has done the inspection to confirm the safety.

When:

  • Sellers sell items every morning of Saturday and Sunday at meeting point of Siem Reap town which you can find here.

Time for opening: 5:30am - 12:00pm

What can you buy there?

  • Items that can be found here includes safe and organic vegetables and seasonal fruits, spice for cooking, ingredients for cooking, traditional cakes or sweet and drinks made locally by local farmers.
  • The price is not too much different from the larger market but what’s more is the safety of the food.
  • It is getting more and more attention from local people who live in Siem Reap town.

Some other province also have similar markets such as Banteay Meanchey, Kompong Cham and Preah Vihear.

@Emmik20 nice, do you have it at home too?

My first experience going to such market was in New Zealand 2014-2016. Like you said, there are many things to find there and ready to eat stuff as well. Sometimes I hung out there like 2-3hours just stroll around and looking for things I want to buy or just looking at people. The products are fresh too!

Here, in Siem Reap I found many fruits I love and I feel safe eating them like I bring from my own home.

Hi @Sophia_Cambodia I started going to weekend market in a town called Ogbomosho in Nigeria . I first went with friends just to enjoy the sight of the market and watching people bargaining over the prices and soon another experience in Belgorod city, where I usually wait for Sunday market to do my shopping , mostly for vegetables.

@PaulPavlinovich I see, thank you for reading.

Yes, some are new to me too but most of them I have been using my life. They are fresh and organic or say safe to consume. I love buying stuff from here. They even have free range chicken to sell as well.

Weekend markets especially those selling farm produce are a favorite place for everyone.

This is because of the variety and the freshness of the farm products that are normally lacking in packaged food in the supermarket.

Thanks for sharing the fresh and wonderful pictures @Sophia_Cambodia - the layout and quality of the pictures is ‘the best’ as always.

@MAHBUB_HYDER thank you for reading my post, I am glad you love the post.

Do you have these kinds of market at home too?

Wow! Great!

Thank you dear @Sophia_Cambodia for sharing these fruit, vegetable and sweets.

I know almost all of them. I miss such markets very much,

there is no such Easten market of in Moscow .,it is difficult to transport vegetables and fruits, they are not stored for a long time.

Especially I miss papaya.

Thank you for nice photos.

Have a nice day today.

@helga19 I see dear, probably it is one of the advantage to live in tropical area. It is very seasonal and always there for you.

Sure, my dear friend @Sophia_Cambodia

I agree with you.

We have harvest season only one time in a year in Russia-autumn, in tropical area sometimes three or four times.

Best regards,

Inna

@helga19 you are right, some of them as almost all year round.

Except for some fruits that come more in April or May.
