Wedang Uwuh is a unique drink from Jogjakarta but now we can find it in many places in indonesia.
Wedang means a drink present in hot or warm condition.
Uwuh, literary means trash from trees like dry leaves and small branch.
The ingredients is look like trash and grass, and some ginger and sugar cube/rock .
Pour with hot water , and the hot water wil be reddish do of the Secang (Caesalpinia sappan) wood.
Taste sweet come from the sugar cube, hot from the ginger.
My first experience with wedang uwuh is when after a 2 and half storey building project meeting, the project manager ask me to joint a hang out meeting in a Javaneese traditional restaurant .
I feel refresh after drink it.
My favorite place is Angkringan SB , a restoran near Imogiri Jogjakarta Royale Funeral , and Bakmi Jowo Pak Adi in Cibinong.
Now we can find it in plastic sachet packaging.

Wedang uwuh banyak kita temui di daerah bersuhu dingin karena paling cocok untuk menghangatkan badan.
Kalau di bukit mangunan, wedang uwuh ditawarkan sebagai wedang biar kuat heheheheh.
Saya suka menikmati wedang uwuh kalau pas di Tawangmanggu atau di mangunan.

This one might be slightly different than the one I tried which is only with ginger, Wedang Jahe.

Wedang Uwuh is different with wedang Jahe, though both have ginger in it.
Wedang Jahe nowadays usually mix with milk, but wedang uwuh can not mix with milk.
The redish color from “secang” that make it so speciall.

Yes some said that even more, wedang uwuh can cure many illness, but what I can tell is when I get tired I always drink this wedang uwuh and feel better then. For 'masuk angin’after I drink wedang uwuh or wedang jahe I go directly get some rest and sleep with enoug time.
Best cure for masuk angin is additional sleep .

the meaning of uwuh is garbage. called wedang uwuh because it is made from leaves, roots, wood spices like garbage.

You should try @PakdeWan . Its good for your health. I think you can find it in your city becausw now they packed it into plastic sachet.
And due to the ingredient is dry so ot has longer expiration date.

Uwuh means backyard trash , because the ingredient of dry leaves, wooden scratch. So its look like backyard trash or uwuh.
