Wasif Manzil, Kila Nizamat, Murshidabad, West Bengal, India.
Between the Hazardwari palace and the southern gate is an attractive building, in front of which the river flows and located in the Nizamat Kila complex known as Wasif Manzil. Because it was the residence of Nawab Raes ud Daulla whose name was Sayyid Wasif Ali Mirza Khan Bahadur who was a scholar and was awarded the title Sir by Britishers. It was built by Sir Wasif Ali Mirza Khan Bahadur in the early nineteenth century under the supervision of Vivian and Surendra Bharat.
Its facade is impressive and Victorian architecture or Romanseqe style is spectacular. Portico’s roof is supported by circular columns and above is the terrace. It’s a two storeyed royal mansion and replicate as a mini castle. In the centre royal coat of arms is crowned and below in the arch a circular black stone disc is fixed with the inscription Murshidabad Estate West Bengal Government and in the centre India’s National Emblem.
Manu statues are placed in the garden and it’s maintained by archaeological survey of India. This is supposed to be a museum is per the information but no person was available at this palace so I was disappointed.
Anyway in future tourists will be benefited as after covid things are not functioning well.
