Waltz & Dr. Mahn , Coffee Museum in Namyangju, Korea

Korea is one of the big consuming markets for coffee. I did not know Korea has a coffee museum even if we drink coffee so much in daily life.

The one I visited yesterday, is located in Bukhangang riverside, which is one of the beautiful nature park in Korea.

Most of Koreans think our last second King, Gojong from Joseon Dynasty was the first person who tasted coffee in our history, but in fact, it wasn’t. In this Museum, there are many interesting documents, exhibits, with photos. Thanks to the donation of the descendants from Royal family, we could see the coffee spoon that King Gojong used to use for his coffee in Deoksugong, palace!

The museum also explains how to make nice drip coffee and let you taste after making by yourself. There is short film that you can discover how the coffee bean traveled from Ethiopia to Europe. At the second floor, you can buy some products including coffee beans, accessories, hand drip coffee makers, etc.

There is a restaurant where you can enjoy western dishes with beautiful view toward Hanriver and the mountain. On Fridays, they held classic concerts.

However, I found the dishes are a bit costly… Maybe it contains the fee for the view!

Hi @KIM19 ,

Thanks for the wonderful post!

I’ve learned from your post new things about the coffee and it was very interesting for me. I’ve never visited such museums but I’ve visited once chocolate museum in Germany which was the same way with history and you could buy different things from there as well. There were also expensive because of the products I think and because it’s a museum but I think it deserve to visit once such museum.

Did you try there a different coffee?
