Waitangi Treaty Grounds, most important historical site of NZ

Waitangi Treaty Grounds (Google Map is here) is New Zealand’s most important historic landmark in Waitangi. It is a protected site of the signing of the first accord between the British Crown and the Maori people in 1840. It is in Bays of Islands, very closed to Paihia. Waitangi Day is a public holiday, celebrated in New Zealand every February 6 (the day it was signed). Learn more about the site here.

The grounds faced to stunning views over the Bay of Islands and have many important structures to explore, including:

  • A meeting house where they perform powerful & authentic Māori culture, called Haka
  • Informative guided tours,
  • An engaging visitor center,
  • Lush native forest and gardens,
  • An inspiring art gallery and carving studio,
  • A traditional Māori waka (canoe) and Hāngi (Hāngi is a traditional New Zealand Māori method of cooking food using heated rocks buried in a pit oven, called an umu. It is still used for large groups on special occasions
  • Whare Waka Café.

Adults: $25.00 - $50.00

  • Child (up to 18 years) Free - Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.- Price not valid for schools or groups. (Day Pass valid for 2 consecutive days)

Thank you, I don’t think so @MukulR but it is in New Zealand dollar, which is lower than US dollar.
