With the Local Guides Summit taking place in Singapore this year, many of you are likely preparing for your trip. If you’re flying in from abroad, Singapore Changi Airport (IATA code: SIN) will be your first introduction to the “Lion City” and it’s a high-tech welcome you won’t forget.
One of the first things that might surprise you is the efficiency. You likely won’t see an immigration officer waiting to stamp your passport; instead, you’ll use a self-automated kiosk. It’s a quick process of scanning your passport and verifying your identity, which usually takes just a few minutes.
Tips: Before you land, make sure you’ve filled out your SG Arrival Card (SGAC) online to ensure a smooth entry.
Changi isn’t your average airport where you just check in and wait at the gate. To truly experience everything it has to offer, you really need at least half a day. Between the cutting-edge technology, endless shopping, and incredible food, there’s no chance of getting bored. In fact, most travelers recommend arriving six to seven hours before your flight just to explore.
The airport is divided into four main terminals (T1, T2, T3 and T4). Moving between them is easy thanks to the complimentary Skytrain and shuttle bus services.
What is there to do?

Must Visit Spots
Based on my last visit, here are the places you absolutely shouldn’t miss:
- Jewel Changi: Home to the iconic HSBC Rain Vortex, the Shiseido Forest Valley, Canopy Park & Mastercard Canopy Bridge and the Changi Experience Studio.
- Terminal 1 (T1): Check out the Cactus Garden and the Discovery Garden.
- Terminal 2 (T2): Don’t miss the Wonder Falls, the Dreamscape or the Sunflower Garden.
- Terminal 3 (T3): Visit the famous Butterfly Garden, the Kidz Zone or catch a free movie.
- Terminal 4 (T4): Explore the Heritage Zone and the Entertainment Zone.
A quick note: Layouts and attractions can sometimes change, so I recommend using Google Maps for real-time directions once you’re on-site. Beyond these highlights, you’ll find plenty of premium lounges and duty-free shops to keep you busy.
Safe travels and enjoy the Summit
