Portsmouth, New Hampshire is known as “The Jewel of the New Hampshire Seacoast” and for good reasons. Portsmouth always ranks very high on those “Best places” surveys for travel, history, scenic beauty, and walkability.
It’s a delight to the senses to stroll along the brick sidewalk of this idyllic little seaside community. Since Portsmouth is a working seaport you often see our Moran tugboats escorting huge ships delivering and carrying cargo all over the world.
In addition to our working harbor, Portsmouth is a great walking town with tons of colorful shops, relaxing parks, and a historic museum called Strawbery Banke. This is a 13-acre living history museum with period homes on display back to the 1600s. There are many demonstrations of early American crafts and lifestyles as well as seasonal events like the Candlelight Stroll around the Christmas holiday Season.
Portsmouth is also blessed with a huge selection of restaurants. We actually have more restaurant seats than people living here. Several great ones on the water and offer deck seating in the warmer months. If you’re there at the right time you will have a ringside seat for the tugboats bringing a big ship into port.
Portsmouth, New Hampshire is a great place to both visit and live. More local information [Redacted]
