I am a curious individual who loves knowing the history and culture of different cities. I visited Seremban, Malaysia many times and I went through this State Museum but I didn’t get a chance to go inside. Yesterday I went to Seremban. Yes! Finally, I make it happen. I visitedMuzium Negeri Sembilan.
Negeri Sembilan State Museum is located at the Crafts & Cultural Handicraft Complex and is located along Jalan Sungai Ujong, Seremban. It’s very near to Seremban Gateway. If you are in this state capital and is keen to learn more about the history of this state as well as appreciate the many artifacts here, plan to spend an hour here.
The Museum building itself was built using the Minangkabau architecture. The building known as Teratak Pepatih Building was previously used as a location for the National Al-Quran Recitation Competition. Due to its Minangkabau architecture, it was renovated and officially declared as the new location of the state museum on 14 July 1986.
To know more about the above two houses, please read below two pictures.
There are a few canons at the compound of the museum. Canons were used during the time of war in Melaka. These weapons can also be seen in many historical sites of Malaysia such as Melaka, Taman Malawati in Kuala Selangor, Penang Fort Cornwallis and Penang War Museum.
There is a traditional boat. Currently, their renovation works going on, that’s why I couldn’t take much more picture. hopefully I will visit again.
