Visit to the Peak Coffee Brew Lab & Roastery at Port Macquarie

My wife and I were on holiday at Port Macquarie and found the Peak Coffee by accident through a recommendation. We met the barista Ken, whom we found to be an excellent guide and has provided good service. He patiently explained to us what’s available at the Peak Coffee, which makes its own brand of coffee beans, among others. Although we did not get to buy an electric grinder we wanted, we bought 1kg of the Peak Pulse ($43) and 500gms of the Honduras ($28) ground beans instead. As a fairly new comer to making espresso coffee, we were both given to taste the different coffee brewed from the assortment of selected beans and ended up with the Pulse, which has a more balanced coffee taste, while the Honduras beans has a stronger roast taste and less acidic. Ken also explained the type of grinder to look out for, in particular the cone head and twin cutter grinders, which will produce better grounded beans, as compared with the blade grinder. If you are around Port Macquarie, this is a stop not to be missed for those wanting to experience, taste and know more of coffee and to buy freshly grounded coffee beans. This is also the place where you can be trained to be a barista or return to refresh once trained prior to working as a barista.

I live and work in Port Macquarie and PEAK Coffee Brew Lab & Roastery is by far the best coffee house in the region. They have also recently collaborated with another successful cafe to produce their 2nd coffee shop. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Port Macquarie
