I was on assignment in Tonga where we had to drive along the waterfront, several times and I was intrigued by this cargo ship wrecked on the fringing reef. At one time, the tide was very low and it looked as if you could walk all the way out to the ship. So, I decided that I would try to get out there with my pano gear to check it out.
The next day I ventured out there. Well, looks can be deceiving as I was almost waist deep in water with my backpack on my head and about ready to turn back when it started to get shallow again, whew !! As I ventured up to the ship I heard a clanking in its bowls and thought to myself, “Holy moly - - ghosts !!” Once the panographer’s mantra: “Sphere with no Fear!” kicked in, I decided to climb up the rusty ladder and explore the ship despite the sounds. My visit was limited to the deck as I could not muster the courage (or folly, despite the mantra) to climb down into the hull space. Jump in and take a spin ! Nick
