Hi Local Guides Team,
Everyone had a blast exploring and debunking myths related to Google Maps in our MythBusters Part 01! We had lots of interesting discussions & learnt in a fun way. In Part 02, we will continue our MythBusters series & focus on myths related to the Local Guides community!
I propose to have an interactive session to dispel common myths, misconceptions & misunderstandings around the Local Guides community as discussed at the end of part 01.

Local Guides are learners who explore through sharing. As part of our learning journey we often hear some myths around how people engage, contribute and participate in the Local Guides community. This meet-up will help us get into informed conversations and understand what is fact and what is myth.
This session will include some community related myths that were mentioned in the first session of MythBusters. We’ll try to learn from each other by sharing experiences, asking questions and learning.
Proposed Activities:
- Presentation on myths in the Local Guides community.
- Interactive discussion.
- Sharing experiences and opinions with fellow Local Guides.
- Q&A.
Objectives of meet up:
- Increase understanding and awareness of our Local Guides community.
- Encourage meaningful interaction with informed discussion.
- Improve connection between Local Guides.
- Provide a friendly space to learn, share and support each other.
The session will be driven by the community, informative and interactive. We aim to have an encouraging discussion to learn from each other.
We will start the session by looking at some common myths that people have around Google Maps. These are basic myths that most users have.
- Myth 1: You need to be an advanced Local Guide to make a difference.
- Myth 2: You need to go to official meet ups to be active in the community.
As you can see these are just some examples of what we can talk about. There is lots more we can chat about and verify. Please fill in the form below so I can get some feedback from you.

If there is time we will include some of your comments in the presentation. We will also have an open section during the meet up so we can all share our thoughts, ideas and experiences.
