The church was constructed in wood between 1912 and 1930, the designer was Bejamin Roman from the same city, he used a photograph-engraving of a church in France as a referent for the building. In the interior are oil paintings and pictures from the Zaruma artist Servio Gallardo Ramirez.
The altar is gold and silver plated. The churh exhibits Arabian, Gothic, Barroque and Rococo style
