Village is missing

My address is missing on google maps. My village is not available. Please add it. The are more than 100 houses and more than 500 people living in this village. There is official address in our all documents but only missing in maps.

Normally we can expect tips and recommendations on how to suggest edits on Google Maps. No one can add a village to the map for you. We need to have personal knowledge of places we add to the map. If you share your documentation and the details below we might be able to spot what is preventing you from getting it approved.

Unfortunately, local guides are not allowed to edit and contribute to Google Maps in all areas. Most likely your government or some local authority has obliged Google to disable user-generated content for political or safety reasons. Or the ban could be put in place to stop spammers.

So there is not much you can do about it, except wait. And try again later. Or you could suggest your friends to try.

This is unfortunate and certainly not your fault. I don’t know the situation in your area, but if this happened where I live a lot of us would be lobbying in many different ways to get this decision overturned.

I don’t know if this is advisable where you live. Please be careful.

But we have seen this happen in India quite a few times.

.Hello @mohammeduvez29

Sad to read that your village doesn’t appear on Maps.

Nevertheless, can you inform the name of your village, in the local language as well as in English?

Also, can you see any of the houses in the satellite view of Maps? Can you provide a snapshot of the satellite view along with a link?

That will help in understanding the exact nature of the problem.

The village you are talking about is actually included in the map of Kenjige village. Which is just a part of Kenjige village and not a separate village. I’ve confirmed this with a valid map. The pincode you have shown belongs to Kenjige village and this includes a total of seven other small villages.

Dear sir Kenjige is just the post office under which our village comes. All our documents has the village name Horatti

Actually I’ve checked in government maps and your village map is not found their. When I’ve checked Kenjige village on our database your village is showing in Kenjige village boundary.

Hi @mohammeduvez29

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.

I think Google needs to stick to how local authorities have structured what is an independent village and which are formally the same village. If everyone was able to decide which is an independent village it could become a never-ending discussion.

As an official document, I think you need to find official maps or listings of villages from the authorities. An individual ID should not be shared online - ever. And where I live we can ask to have extra info added to our address, but that does not make it official.

Best regards

Morten

@Flash

Flash, would you kindly step in and let us know if there are ways to add “sub-village” place names to the map as discussed in this thread? Your guidance would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hello @MortenCopenhagen ,

The categories for political areas in Maps are as follows:

Country

State/Province

County/District

City/Town/Village

Locality

Sub-locality/Neighbourhood

The rules do not allow overlap of one feature over another feature in the same category, with the exception of sub-localities.

How places are designated really depends on the place. Perhaps a small village is within the area of a larger one, and that larger one is the one with a government. In that case the smaller one would probably be a Locality and the larger one a City/Town/Village.

But how it’s divided up is really going to depend on the area. In general a Locality wouldn’t have it’s own government, but a City/Town/Village often does.

As a note, the inability to edit such features does not depend on the region; political features are not editable anywhere in the world.
