Videos preventing review publishing

My review linked above was not published in its original form with videos even after waiting overnight. I went through methodically removing parts and discovered that the videos were preventing it from publishing. After removing them it published immediately and adding them back resulted in the review disappearing immediately. The strange thing is, I can post the videos to Google Maps if I do not include them in a review. You can see them if you go to LATEST or VIDEOS in GM. The videos are short less than 30 sec. and shouldn’t contain any copyright or privacy issues, but again, the main point is that they published just fine if added separately from the review. Also checked with a different computer using incognito. Anybody see this before or know what the issue is?

@corysakai, that’s a weird issue. Haven’t seen it before, but it sounds like Google might treat videos in reviews differently from uploads.

Could be a content policy, file size/format issue, or an algorithmic glitch. Maybe there’s a stricter policy for videos in reviews, so consider compressing your videos more or converting them.

There’s also a possibility of automatic flagging for manual review when videos are in text. For workarounds, you’ve already uploaded the videos separately, which is good; mention that in your review. Also, report this to Google Maps Support with steps to replicate the issue, and seek community feedback hoping others share insights or solutions.

Hi @corysakai , welcome back to Connect and thank you for asking
What you reported is very normal, and most of the time you have just to wait, even more than just overnight, to have the review published when there is a video attached.
I see that you added three videos on the location. Is the video that was causing the problem one of the three shown below?

Ok @ErmesT, maybe I will try reviewing something else and use a video and just wait longer and see. All 3 videos were problematic.

Good points @IgbinedionDan . Videos are from a Pixel 8 and have worked before without a problem. Maybe I will wait longer. Good suggestion to reference the video in the review when needed.
