Venice, Italy's masterpiece

@Sorbe no it was not the first city or even the first time in Italy. But this city is really different and special!

The black pizza has carbon in it but it tastes really good and not smoky at all!

Haha, @DanniS , @CatherineKh

There are several version of Spritz.

The original spritz was a request of the Commander of the Austrian troops in Venice, on the XVIII century, to diluite the wine served to the soldiers, adding water and seltz to the wine. This is because the soldiers, not accustomed to the high percentage of alcohol in the wine, were often drunk.

The modern spritz born in Padova (Padua) a century ago, during the presentation of Aperol on “Padua Fair” on 1919.

You can easily make it at home. You need:

  • A slice of orange
  • Ice
  • 1/3 of white dry wine
  • 1/3 of water
  • 1/3 of Aperol (Campari is ok too, it depends which one you like more)
  • add seltz at the end

As seltz is not very common at home, you can make a “Prosecco spritz” instead, with 1/3 of Prosecco and 1/3 of sparkling water

A photo here is needed, when you are ready

Where to find Prosecco? Here in Treviso, of course.

note: if you start a dinner with Spritz, it is strongly required to close the dinner with TiramisĂč
